That’s right. Our Colts have tied the Green Bay Packers of yore (or more specifically, of 1929-31) as the only team to start consecutive seasons with an undefeated streak of 7-0. Another interesting record that could be tied this weekend is the NFL’s high point for two teams remaining undefeated at 8-0. That has only happened three times before, and the only time within most NFL fans’ lifetimes was 1990; the teams were the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. In 2006, of course, it’s the Colts and the Chicago Bears who are looking to hang on to their streaks.
Impressive as this is, nobody’s talking about it around Indianapolis. We’re all, “Where can I get tickets for the Colts-Patriots game?” I mean, everybody wants to settle the Manning vs. Brady thing, and establish the fact that Peyton Manning is the best!
